Meet our Parent Company!

How do you cover the earth with Duck Tape? Join forces with an international family of companies. In 1998, we were proud to become part of The Henkel Group. Our exciting new partnership allows us to reach new customers across the world and continue developing innovative new products.

Like Manco, Henkel began as a small, family-owned company. In 1876, 28-year-old Fritz Henkel founded the laundry detergent factory Henkel & Cie in Aachen, Germany. His first products included a universal detergent and bleaching soda developed to give consumers an easier and more effective way to wash clothes. Today, the Henkel Group is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany and has more than 50,000 employees. The company is a global manufacturer and distributor of industrial adhesives, consumer and craftsmen adhesives, cosmetics and toiletries, and laundry and home care products. People in 125 countries around the world trust in brands and technologies from Henkel.

The North American members of the Henkel Group employ more than 7,000 people and operate in four business sectors: Laundry & Home Care, Personal Care, Consumer & Craftsmen Adhesives, and Henkel Technologies. Each business blends entrepreneurial management style with the reach and resources of a multi-national organization. Familiar North American brands of the Henkel Group include Loctite® adhesives, Dep® and LA LOOKS® hair care products, Duck® brand duct tape, LePage® adhesives (Canada only), Dial® soap, and Purex® laundry detergent. Henkel’s North American businesses generated sales of $2.6 billion in 2004. With the acquisitions of The Dial Corporation and the hair and personal care business of Advanced Research Laboratories in early 2004, the Henkel Group has doubled the size of its business in North America.

Henkel businesses are leaders in their respective markets, and consistently deliver innovative products and customer solutions through the strength of their research and development efforts. The Henkel Group’s new corporate identity, “Henkel – A Brand Like a Friend,” signals its commitment to making people’s lives easier, better and more beautiful. Henkel has been recognized as a leader in sustainable development, having been selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the fourth year in a row.
